Coronavirus Cases Worldwide Top Five Million

More than five million people have been reported to have been infected with coronavirus globally and over 328,000 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Latin America has overtaken the United States and Europe in the past week to report the largest portion of new daily cases.

The United States has seen nearly 92,000 deaths and Europe has had nearly 165,000.

It comes as the World Health Organisation recorded 106,000 new cases of COVID-19 – the most in a single day yet.

“We still have a long way to go in this pandemic,” WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news
conference.

“We are very concerned about rising cases in low and middle income countries.”
